Mark took our family photos in March 2022 at the JW Marriott on Marco Island.When we first met on the beach, he did an excellent job of befriending our 2.5 year old daughter, who can be shy and sometimes reticent to smile in professional photos. He was patient and knew how to make our toddler feel comfortable, and most importantly, he made the environment fun during the photo shoot.Mark is a master of his craft. The photos he shot are gorgeous. He is an excellent photographer. He obviously also knows the environment well and advised us on the best times for the right light.Finally, the way he packages his photos…with one upfront fee that is inclusive of all the edited images he sends, is clear and there are no hidden fees at the end. In Mark’s photo package, there is no sifting through a massive amount of unedited proofs and then having to pick your favorite few and ultimately paying extra because you can’t narrow it down. In Mark’s model, you get to keep all of the glorious memories in the gallery he sends. I would absolutely use a Mark again and would highly recommend him to others. You will not be disappointed! When I came across Mark’s work, I instantly liked his style — outdoors, classic editing, and good, active family shots — so asked him about his availability. He responded promptly, and continued to be responsive to our questions, desires, etc. from the booking through our session.Our group has several young children/babies, with one being a real wild card. Mark found so many moments during our hour together to focus in on our little ones and capture them doing what they do best: being goofy and exploring. I so appreciated that he didn’t try to force the kids to pose or do anything unnatural; and instead let them lead the way with what they were comfortable with.We did several fairly casual photos, with us walking on the beach and interacting with each other. He was very happy to accommodate our requests for more formal portraits, as well, and helped us make sure we got all possible combinations (we had four separate families included in our large group).I was also very happy with his price point, and that we have the flexibility to print our own images.And while I already mentioned I like his editing style, I want to say again how refreshing it is to find someone that edits without heavy color correction, filters or trendy techniques. My extended family and I went to Marco Island on a family trip for my MIL 60th and wanted to surprise her with a family photo shoot.I contacted a handful of places and they seemed to be pushy with “upgrading packages” and “selling” but Mark was very genuine and transparent from the beginning. Unfortunately I can’t speak to Marks work personally because I had to cancel my wedding due to Covid-19 but I can speak to how understanding he is. I do believe is is a great photographer, during our conversations he brought up things regarding light and angle of pictures for our beach ceremony I had not even thought of. After a spoke with Mark about the cancellation of my wedding with no idea when I could reschedule I asked for my deposit back he was the only one of my vendors that returned my full deposit. Mark really knows how to capture wonderful images using the beach landscapes and setting sun. Amazing!!! Not only was Mark flexible when our schedule changed last minute, he balance looming weather, bugs on the beach, and a 2 year old toddler + his 3 month old baby twin sisters. I found Mark Block through a referral from a local Facebook moms group, so I contacted him to take pictures of my extended family while we were vacationing in Florida. He was very easy to communicate with to set up time, date and location. Unfortunately the day of our scheduled time, it was rainy with no end in sight. Mark was very flexible to reschedule; however, we only had one day with the entire extended family. So we decided to go for it! He made the best of what we had. We had a wonderful session last week with Mark for family photos. The original date was going to have some unfavorable temps for evening pictures and young kids. He was able to accommodate us on another date which had much better weather. He was wonderful with the kids! He has some great tricks for getting them to do what he wants without the nagging parents dole out. I would suggest to other parents sit back and let him take charge of the kids and I am sure he will get them to listen better than you are able to! We can’t wait to see the pictures!
